That's a howler!

said initial testing suggests Barcelona will offer 40% to 70% greater performance than its "dual-core" Opteron chips.

That's not what AMD's slides said. Not "initial testing", but rather, "internal AMD simulation".

But still, only 40-70% better than current DUAL CORE parts? Isn't that what one would expect from NO improvement to the core IPC at all, just doubling their number???
