At least a few reviews have mentioned that dual-CPU FX systems are slower than their single-CPU equivalents on single-threaded benchmarks, although they were using FX-62 on an AM2 motherboard rather than an FX board with one CPU removed. Anandtech did remove one CPU, but it was to compare a hypothetical 3GHz A64 X2 6000+ to dual-core X6800:
