I realized long ago that you just don't get gold. I don't, I don't get why on thanksgiving madonna is on TV riding the back of a man like a mule and whipping him with a horse whip while my nieces scream with glee, I remember watching charlie brown cartoons in my youth during thanksgiving - but times change I suppose. The great pumpkin got switched out for sadism and massochism. We all have blind spots. I don't get the WonderBra, and probably a million other things. No one is perfect. Its all about meme share, take religion for example, in hawaii people used to believe to appease the god pele they had to throw a virgin into the volcano and they did - but times change. Now if no one buys gold, who will general chen sell too? You say I am one of the people that don't get it, many of the people I talk too on slashdot.org don't get "gold" either - they get computers and technology and genetics and such but not gold. Those things bring fun and life extension and knowledge advancement, but gold just collects dust. Then a guy like trotsky says hold up - gold will make evil men honest - but I don't buy that for a second - it won't. Mr. T and Snoop Dog have lots of gold and platinum too - but one of them just got some criminal charges - they understand the value of gold eh? Without a gun to back up its value - not very valuable. I use the term NICCA and you say you don't get that either, but it is popular lexicon with the youth - the youth you are hoping will get "gold" and give you some of the labor and blood and sweat off thier backs for it - but I don't think they will. It really comes down to one characteristic, and that is tangible value. Why it has value is entirely irrelevant. No that is very important I think, it had value because people wish to buy it and store it, if no one did so it would have no intrinsic value eh? Say like an orange that you could consume to fuel your body. Seashells have been used to serve the function of gold - its value is highly related to its memeshare and belief systems of man - unlike other things. I valued frankie lymon singing why do fools fall in love and charlie brown cartoons on thanksgiving. Today people value madonna beating a man on the stage during thanksgiving and thug rappers singing about killing cops. It has in the past and it will in the future. You don't like that, for reasons I don't fully understand. Its not that I dont like it, its that I dont believe it. In thanksgivings past I dont remember madonna or any woman getting on national tv and riding the back of a man and beating him like a bitch so all the little kids could see and learn - but times change - so do beliefs and so do people - no more virgins are going into volcanoes. Times change, even if things were done for a very long time - they change, gold is not used in everyday currency today - I believe it never will be - whatever use it had as a store of value for the masses has long been replaced by more transportable money. Are their crooks and corruption, yes, and technology can be used to control for that and fight it, saying 30 billion people will go back to trading gold just seems silly to me. When POG crosses $1600, will the gold bugs/bulls be fools? I believe if gold crosses 1600 - other things I use and consume will go up more. Why did Russ sell a lot of his gold many months back - why was he so silly?
