I haven't seen any x86 based settop box. For HD, my cable provider will use something like this: adbglobal.com
These things don't need the flexibility of a general purpose CPU, they use fixed function hardware. If some channel uses a new codec, the cable provider will re-encode it somewhere in their network instead of on each settopbox.
