It would be nice if KingMarty gave some reasons for believing these things.

IF
x4 comes sooner rather than later, and

there is a licensing agreement with Hynix, and

Microsoft becomes an active partner in U3 (especially as a paying partner), and

NAND pricing is down only 50% next year, and

supply/demand will be in good balance for Q1 with pricing down 15-20% forecasted by SanDisk,

THEN
yeah, we'll have an explosion in the stock. Even, as he says, plausibly new highs by Feb-March.

But, as they say, words are cheap.

On the other hand, I do think that a fair part of the recent weakness is a combination of drunk short sellers selling their NAND oversupply/underdemand tale for Q1 along with a headwind of tax loss selling and weak nervous holders. The supply of tax loss stock and weak hands ought to ease in the next two weeks or so, and--I'll go out on a limb here--I do think that we'll have a good last half of Dec (at least the last week), and a good January, provided of course that Mr. Market doesn't completely tank himself, in which case all bets and predictions are off and we should all just go hibernate for awhile.

All JMHO, of course.

I believe that this X4 MLC is coming sooner than later and that it is going to have an impact on EPS growth for SanDisk next year.

I haven't read any such thing about x4 and unless SNDK/FLSH have made some dramatic progress towards commercializing x4 in the last 45 days, we are unlikely to see x4 having a material impact on Sandisk's EPS growth in 2007.

This comes from LRCX yahoo and it caught my attention;
just a few days 4x MLC was mentioned by LRCX; they also talked about 120 - 130k wafer fabs which could be hinted to Toshiba.
is it possible that SNDK/Toshiba are getting faster than expected in manufacturing this technology? They did not mention specifically a name in conjunction with 4x but wasn't 4x the BIG deal with regards to Msystem?

Toshiba/Sandisk are not the only ones planning big fabs of the size you mention, there are others who are planning bigger fabs for nand flash. x4 was just one of few things of interest to Sandisk in acquiring FLSH. Other things being mDoC, mDoK, mSIM, SSFD, etc.
