NATURAL GAS $7.806 -0.616
There is always something that can go wrong with
any play and there are three significant natural gas exploration
plays that we have big hopes for.

First of all, there’s Delta Petroleum (DPTR) whose
stock has been performing like a rocket over the last
two and three months because of big expectations for
what may be a basin-centered gas play in Washington
State. Eric Sprott certainly has picked a winner here...at
least so far.

Andy Gustajtis’s Corridor Resources (CDH) pick has
performed just as well, tripling over the last year while
most natural gassy-type stocks have been clobbered, as
gas prices tumbled from highs of last winter. Right now
there are hopes that the stock could be worth a lot more
just on what they’ve discovered and if they ever do find
anything deeper down (now that drilling has started)
that could only add more to the upside.

Also, Pacific Energy (PFE) could be starting to drill
any hour now on their high profile/high risk play just 20
miles away from where Ultra Petroleum has had such
success and once again, if their project with Shell hits…

What can go wrong? Well of course, they might all
miss, but more importantly these days, the price of
natural gas is a big concern. If natural gas were to slip
back to $4.00 an mcf, a whole lot less people would give
a hoot about any natural gas exploration plays.

While here in Alberta we’ve had a brutally cold winter
for the last 10 days, getting between minus 10 Celsius
and minus 30 Celsius with lots of snow, over most of
North America, you’ve had record highs and after a brief
storm through some areas of the States, it’s right back
to near record highs.

One thing people should be worried about is the high
inventory levels for oil and natural gas, unless winter
comes soon!

I suspect more than a few natural gas followers these
days are following Accu-Weather on a daily, if not
hourly basis.
