I agree with the thrust of your post. Yes we need a coalition but there is nothing wrong with playing old fashioned balance of power politics if necessary. The moderate arab states flexing their muscles a bit, led by jordan, was a message to iran. US tilt toward shiaa today is a message to baathists and other insurgents in iraq. Iran doeant want total anarchy in iraq and the moderate arab states cant deny that 80% of iraq is non-sunni arab. (60% shiaa + 20% kurd sunni)
