My step mother did her counter tops in concrete in her second home. She is pretty settled in five years later. There is also a galvanized steel flue on the fireplace. It goes well in the 1800's laminated beam barn that she started with. It is a old / new thing with some industrial. She get tonnes of compliments on it form some very sophisticated people.
