Just ask the Kurds and the Shi'a. Look how Saddam was diverting OFF funds to building palaces and maintaining his army, while the majority of places outside of Baghdad didn't have ANY electricity (and even Baghdad's production was rationed). Now the entire country has a similar amount of power "on" and power "off", certainly exacerbated by the plethora of new appliances that Iraqi's are buying (AC, TV, Satellite, washer/dryers.. etc). We're not responsible for the Iraqi people not unifying and keeping themselves from tearing themselves. We can create the opportunity for a better life for one and all, but the Iraqis have to look beyond their own parochial hatreds and feuds to find a path to national reconciliation.btw, gold is up, again Dollar down.. China increasing the value of the yuan by selling dollars.. Euro soaring and creating panic on the part of exporters who see profits diminishing from their trade with the US. Fed certainly in a spot because they'll want to maintain dollar at some point of equilibrium to contain inflation (support the dollar) but US stock markets may rally as US goods become more competitive.. Mid-East stock markets being crushed after speculative boom backed by artificially high oil prices. Oil denominated in dollars. Arabs possibly buying gold due to problems in their financial markets.. Limited availability of physical gold in illiquid market (compared to other commodities). US still 30% of global economy.. So many influences and factors to look at.. Who knows what will happen.. Hawk
