"Whether he lost focus or not, he shouldn't have been in that job."

Whether or not this is true, it isn't relevant. What is relevant here is the latest attempt to wiggle Dubya off the hook and shift the blame to the Democrats. The idea that the Democrats shaped the policy in Iraq is totally ludicrous.

Actually, I do think its en pointe.........frequently the level of one's competence will determine the quality of one's focus. Having said that, I understand the issue you are wanting to highlight.

Note that we are also supposed to believe that the administration was also shaping policy based on what the American people would tolerate. This fails on so many levels it isn't funny. Ok, I can accept that they did some of that, despite their loud trumpeting about how Bush doesn't "do" poll data. They lie about so many things what is one more? But if they put together a mission doomed to failure because they thought the people wouldn't support a real effort, then they didn't do a good job selling the war. And if they can't get support for a real effort, then they shouldn't have done it in the first place. But that would be realistic, and, as we have seen, they don't do realistic.

Agree with all of it to the point that it makes me furious. These assholes have caused so many deaths and the spending of so much wasted money it infuriates me that they may get away without being made accountable for their incompetence.
