I think the spin which says anyone but Bush was the reason for the Iraq fiasco will hang around, at least in widespread public discourse, as long as folk from within that administration, or very prominent public supporters, run for public office. Once that period is past, I expect it to retreat to the margins, perhaps even the far margins.

And, within my lifetime, we'll see serious historical work on whether he was the worst president or simply one among a small handful.
