Probably not. It is too convenient. Even when you show them the data that it doesn't work, they close their eyes and stick their fingers in their ears and go "LALALALALALALALA". And then they babble about how, because the debt is still lower than the GNP we are fine. It is sort of like saying that just because their debt is smaller than their net worth, it is ok to max. the credit cards and any lines of credit as the finance charges eat a significant part of their income. I've seen people do that, it always ends in bankruptcy...
