"As who would expect it???? The experts or you?"

Anyone who knows anything about how that stuff works. I am not an expert, but I had a fair amount of meteorology for my Marine Science degree. Plus decades of watching hurricanes with an intense eye. El Nino and its effect on hurricanes was settled knowledge 30 years ago.

Sure there were people who claim to be experts predicted a worse ever hurricane season. Some of those predictions came out before the El Nino conditions formed, which was late last year. Those that made those predictions after the conditions formed, likely had no background in meteorology.

The term "hurricane" is generally, but not exclusively, used for Atlantic storms. In the Pacific, they talk about "typhoons" and "cyclones", depending on the weather center. IIRC, Japan uses "typhoon" and Australia uses "cyclone". I don't follow those very much, it is the rare storm that crosses Mexico and makes it to the Atlantic, although it can happen.

No way the expert GW believing "majority of scientists" belonged to those who expected quiet in Atlantic 2006.

Why is this comment important? We already know that this past year was one of the busiest hurricane seasons. So what if more were on the Pacific side.

Such silly, partisan people.......you lose sight of the facts because you are so bent on playing everything politically.
