Grace: US real estate is priced in dollars. To the extent that the US dollar is depreciating, US housing values are declining whether or not there is much of a change in US denominated price levels. Indeed, US dollar housing prices could continue to edge up in coming years and yet not increase in value when the dollar's own value is taken into account. It seems unlikely that the US will correct its deficits any time soon, and there seems to be little reason on that scoer to expect anything but red ink up to and over the horizon. We are most likely in a period of rising inflation and dollar depreciation -- a scenario where we see dollar prices rising while the dollar itself is falling.
