Phil > The US won't initiate a war with Iran on her own

Without any doubt.

> Israel might just engineer one nevertheless and with it drawing the US into it.

They have tried their best to do so and failed. The US is incapable of continuing in Iraq, another even bigger war is out of the question. The US is now like a wounded lion which has to look after itself and cannot attend to its cub. Little Israel is on its own in the jungle.

> I see no signs that Israel has lessened her opposition to Iran or resigned herself to a nuclear Iran.

Despite the ranting and raving, Israel sees the writing on the wall -- the war game is over. Either Israel makes peace, and negotiates from a position of weakness which it now has to, or it faces extinction through attrition, emigration and demographic collapse -- all of which, in fact, are likely to happen anyway but continued war will make it happen sooner. Israel is now the big loser in its own wars.

> Netanyahu is even more strident as evidenced by his recent rhetoric on US media.

Blah, blah, blah. He's kaput.

> Who knows how this will evolve

It's quite clear if you look properly but if you keep believing the BS then your eyes will be clouded.

> Israel is the elephant in the region

Israel WAS the elephant in the region.

> has prepared for war including nuclear war for a long time

Now, like South Africa did, they can dismantle their atom bombs and exchange their swords for plough-shares.

> Israel is not without allies

Until push comes to shove. No one wants to die in Israel's wars. Much easier and far more pleasant to make peace and do business.

> Israel has been doing her part in the unfolding of apocalyptic prophecy perfectly

Of course, the evangelists are still waiting for their "air-lift" but if my prophecy comes true, they won't be waiting in THIS state of Israel, maybe the next one? In years to come, as I see it, this state of Israel will be part of a Greater Palestine -- and it makes no difference whether there's a one state solution or two. This state of Israel can only survive without boundaries and through war, as at present. Peace is anathema and true democracy, in which Arabs and Jews are treated similarly, is a curse. If Israel makes peace and institutes true democracy it signs its own death warrant.

> Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is playing right along.

And why shouldn't he? He holds all the cards.

<<The US won't initiate a war with Iran on her own.>>That is WILD guess based on NOTHING and the reason why that i say that is that you reveal you don't have a clue that to the american empiricist the victory of Iran ANNIHILATES their every diabolical ambition.

It is highly naive and biased to think only the fanatic zionist have a huge stake in this.

The idea the Israel is tail wagging the dog is overdone, a ridiculous simplification.

Niall Ferguson , an ultra neocon of major influence wrote a goading long essay in Time Magazine predicting the great swoon of th American Empire because they don't have the guts to attack Iran.
He then write how the future will be because america was to gutless to attack Iran.
Bush43 is an avid reader of Niall Ferguson, thinks he is RIGHT ON.
So do several other major players in power think the same of Niall Ferguson(Cheney being another), though Niall Ferguson is a 99.4% pure evil fascist , he nonethless last year was was awarded a extremely prestigious chair in Harvard History Department.
i can assure you neither Ferguson or Bush or Cheney are dogs being wagged by the tail of Israel.

This thread has OVERRATED the force of Zionism in this business in regards specifically to Iraq and Iran.

The ambition of the american neocons is for the The United States to control the flow of oil in Asia Minor and the middle-east, and Pro-Israell is only a secondary add-on to these neocons.

i need sharpen my definition of Never corner a raccoon! and add, "unless you are in full body armor and have an AK-47".
What is happening now is a lot of fantasists are cornering the neocons with lazy delusions and with no armor.
In short, they are hardly cornered, as they haven't gone to max nasty yet, but they will.

Cripes the Big Picture for Empiricist NeoCons does not necessarily even include Israel.

By the way i am intentionally OBNOXIOUS on this thread, as truth to me is FAR FAR more important than being liked.
Max, ever so politely

Phil > Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is playing right along (2).

Like this, maybe?

Ahmadinejad: Israel will disappear

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh held talks in Doha, Qatar on Friday.

The Islamic Republic News Agency reported Saturday Ahmadinejad saying, "As everybody knows, the Zionist regime was created to establish dominion of arrogant states over the region and to enable the enemy to penetrate the heart Muslim land."

Saying the Israeli regime was inherently a "threat," and was "on the verge of disappearing".

Haniyeh praised the support of the Iranian government and nation for the cause of the Palestinian nation. "The Iranian nation's brilliant stand in the rightful battles of the Palestinians encourages them and signifies their deep understanding of Islamic principles," Iran's official state-run news agency reported.

"The Intifada (uprising) of the Palestinian nation will continue until the cause of the Palestinians is materialized and Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) is liberated," added Haniyeh.

Ahmadinejad went on to say that, "Today scores of Western politicians are in doubt as to the future of this illegitimate regime and its existence has come under question.

"There is no doubt the Palestinian nation and Muslims as a whole will emerge victorious," the Iranian president told Haniyeh.

"The continued commission of crimes by the Zionist regime will speed up the collapse of this fictitious regime," said Ahmadinejad.<<
