You don't have to go back that far.

Medicine is very prone to abrupt changes in direction, it has only recently gotten any sort of solid scientific footing. It is less prone to these changes that it was 20 years ago.

You won't find any theories that start with those words. You will find people who make those statements. Just like they will start with "the proponderance of the evidence supports" or "it is generally accepted". Sometimes they are just whuffing you, their statements do not reflect the general state of the knowledge at the time. And it can even be the case that the majority of scientific opinion is just wrong, it does happen. But to assume that an entire field is wrong and they are hiding it because there is money in it is almost certainly paranoia that borders on lockup material. You would have to come up with some case where this has occurred before.
