I want the board moderated in line with it's original values. So if there is someone that likes to take over let him stand up and we'll do a vote. Please be aware that all this talk is not very beneficial. Either the vast majority here supports me, or you should elect someone else that you support more fully. It is really that simple. Lastly I have this to say to TWY and those recommending his post: Change meets resistance. I've seen that some of the most frequent posters here changed their tone albeit not as much as some want here (among those I count Elmer and Doug). Names like aLbErT and Dougie disappeared. Although some won't agree I really do think the amount of direct personal insults decreased ('you are an xxx' is nearly gone). Now these have decreased some have found pleasure in using the next available workaround in near direct personal insults in order to 'tell them right' in terms just allowed. How sophisticated! I've set up a discussion recently on the OT board to see if we can eliminate that too (e.g. short suspensions; we need some solution here because it generates too much OT). Separately there's a long standing discussion here about speed limits, and even though I openly oppose them I said recently we might still need to implement it if it can get very high level of support (e.g. 80% of votes). To give you some idea of what it's like to moderate: I've been accused siding with AMD-fans too much, I've been accused of giving Intel investors too much slack. I've been accused of being way too strict, and I've been accused of being not nearly strict enough. Not once but often. Nice, no? Still personally I'm seeing a balance there (it's coming from both sides using opposite arguments). Also I've been accused of making wrong decisions. Every single time in fact but I usually can and should laugh about it. Some of the more serious complaints (two or so) were because I was not entirely black and white (but I don't see how not looking at the initial causes, or at the larger picture are things that should be left unconsidered). I took the brunt for defending unpopular people because of what I think is right (also for popular people because I'd be 'under pressure' to do so). Lately it makes me puke that people have recommended Mas' overflow of insults against Doug while he has gradually changed his tone over a couple of months. I moved against what I thought was excessive and some people only see that Doug should be suspended although he's moving in the right direction (and believe me nobody here knows more about reiterative statements and crying fouls than me). I treasure small changes because they lead somewhere. And btw the very first (not only) solution instead of speed limits really is to start paying and use ignore if you can't stand it (don't expect each and every benefit if you want it all for free). Yes the rules and related moderation are both for paying and non paying members, still the fact that some don't pay brings the obligation to be more accommodating (to compensate for lack of ignore). The second much more drastic solution is speed limits. I'm against it but am hardly holding it back with everything either. I have done / will continue to do my very best. Elmer said exactly what I think of myself namely that I'm not perfect. I think I'm pretty much ok though. Anyone thinking s/he can do better I simply wish Godspeed. I also think it's not exactly out of the question either (I'm not perfect). I'll support the board. K, end rant (yep I'm allowed one too once in a while). Regards, Rink
