In general, AMD has had the least success with high-volume, low margin products.

I think it has to do that product inteded to be high volume, low margin, never quite get to high volume, but low margin and low volume sinks them.

That's why Opteron and Turion are their most successful products, while PIC, Flash, and Alchemy are no longer around.

PIC and Alchemy are cases of the above point. Flash is quite different, in being a tool of Intel to inflict disproportionate pain on AMD. The overall flash market is less sick now, since it is no longer used as a leverage to pressure AMD.
