Saudi Arabia, America's closest ally in the Arab world, is considering backing anti-US insurgents because it is so alarmed that Sunnis in Iraq will be left to their fate — military and political — at the hands of the Shia majority.

This is the doomsday scenario that Mubarak was describing in his remarks to bush that he was about to "open up the gates of hell" by invading iraq.

"Saudis and Iran prepare to do battle over corpse of Iraq"

Saudi Arabian military:

Iranian military:

The Saudis have 25,000 troops, the Iranians have 525,000, many with combat experience in the Iran/Iraq war. The Saudis have a nicer air force ( the princes like to fly our F-16's ). The Shia in Iraq already outnumber the Sunni.

I'd have to go with the Iranians..
