Thanks... that really sucks when management is that far off... doesn't sound good.

That is a real hoot, a fease where they made a 15 dollar per ton mistake in the cost of extraction, due to a "clerical" error.

Reminds me of a Canamax project (Cantung?) where they calculated the number of tons at a certain grade, but had never taken a volume/ton test of the highly oxidized ore. Turns out they had a lot fewer tons per unit volume than they guessed. About 25% fewer. The assays which are based on weight, were correct, but the ore was far lighter than they thought. Now if a lowly mining technician had suggested, "hey, let's to a ton test, say we make a yard square box, put a weight measured ton or two in it, and then fill it with water and weigh it. Then we know the true tonnage factor of the ore." Probably woulda fired him. Some goofball, would have "known" what tonnage factor to use. 12 he woulda said, or 10. Right off. uh=huh.. and how did he know that? Anybody spell pyncnometer? I think they probably used a sphincterometer on the jr. engineers who otherwise would not have made that mistake.

I have observed that practical incompetence rules most industries. 90% of engineers have brown lips, and the less brown the lips as you rise in the heirarchy, the less gray matter is actually in gear.
