Risk vs reward is different for intermediate to long term trades than it is for swing trades.

Swing trades have me taking a larger position, usually 10% of my portfolio and I use a smaller loss percentage, usually 4% to 5%. The profits are smaller but the larger position sizing makes up for the short term move.

Longer term trades have me using 5% of the portfolio per trade and I extend the stop loss to 8% to 10% since the position size is half the size of a swing trade.

Longer term holds need a little more breathing room since we are counting on time to help us with the position.
