>>...and bought a few coins of the American Eagle variety at HKD 5030/coin (HKD 7.78 = USD 1.00).

Price $646.53.

So are you able to buy Maples, Eagles at spot gold price?

Here (US) I generally have to pay a premium per coin, maples aprx $15, eagles $20...

If I catch the dealer after he has just made a purchase and the market is up, occasionally I can buy at spot or close to it...

If they sell at spot, where is the profit for the banks?

Yesterday's report sold TRMS for 12.61 after paying 11.67 about two weeks ago under new philosophy of taking small profits while I got'em and bought CVV for 6.95.

Gold....shmold sayth the grasshopper.
