"I have no idea if we ultimately can; if climate change, in this case, is man made or cyclical. Lots of smart people think it's man made."

We can, actually. And it matters little what started the cycle. I think it was by human activities because the timing is just too good. But regardless of what started things off, we can modulate it. Gregory Benford proposed putting a 1000 kilometer Fresnel lens at L1(IIRC). A Fresnel lens consists of a series of concentric rings. It is what is used in the plate on an overhead projector or those pocket magnifiers. If designed properly, you could change the sunlight that the Earth gets over several percent in either direction. Compared to the Iraq War, it wouldn't be all that expensive, in the range of $10 billion.

So we can do something about it. What we need to do is stop moaning that it would be too expensive to do it.

So I certainly think it's worth a shot to reduce the use of carbon based fuels. Besides, the effort has so many side benefits.

Or we can just say to hell with it... say to the next generation fuk em if they can't take a joke...

I am glad you said it....but isn't this too logical to have to explain it? If the science is wrong, we're better off anyway. I expect that renewable, clean energy will replace IT as the boom industry of the 21st century.
