I don't think drugs woud really help anyone in chess. Alekhine, a great player from past times is said to have played drunk, but he was such a great player, he could overcome his own drunkenness!

The main problem now at the highest levels are the computer "seconds" used during breaks, etc. to analyze positions.

Vladamir Kramnik, current world champ, HAS to win his next game with the computer he's currently playing, or he'll lose his match to it.

I think eventually humans will just have to sit down and play and entire game without adjournments or leaving the board.
