"So an "award" from them is meaningless, right?"

No. It means a lot. There are some states between "sucks" and "award winning".

"I just find it incredible that some people are maintaining that we have no interest in the die size, a die photo, or overclocking results"

All of those are important. But we don't have them as of yet. Not having a die size at launch isn't unusual, sometimes that info is never released. Heck, the number of pipeline stages for Banias was never released, or it wasn't released for several years. Die photos are also nice, but not always released either. Overclocking results will be available when the websites get their hands on a chip.

The award was nice. I'd love to be able to afford the report. But it doesn't mean much with respect to the processor, remember that Prescott and Dothan were on the same process. And one didn't tell you much about the other.
