"Civil war isn't breaking out, it's breaking in... they're coming from surrounding countries."

That would be --- strategically useful --- and entirely consistent with my expectations for how the inter-Islamic conflict will develop (and, even *faster* in that direction once we extricate ourselves from the middle of the mess...), but according to the official line from the Pentagon, it hasn't happened yet!

(At least: they are NOT 'coming in from surrounding countries' in significant numbers yet to fight in the civil war... as the US military is currently reporting that "92%" of captured or killed 'insurgents' are IRAQI NATIONALS... thus far.)

However --- as Sec. Def. nominee Gates testified today --- the possibility certainly exists for "Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Syria" (etc.) to become force committed before too long.

PARTICULARLY once 'Uncle Sucker' gets out of the middle, and quits doing the Shiites fighting for them, helping Iran indirectly (on the days we aren't attacking Shiite forces, that is. :-)
