Now traditionally bin splits were a separate category, but it shouldn't be any more. Because what good is a die if it can't function at a reasonable clock?

If we were to get into that discussion then people might start revealing more info than they care to about their company. In fact, the fact that you raise that as an issue reveals something in itself and the fact that some others don't raise that might be construed to reveal something as well...

Actually, why the image should approximate a rectangle, instead of being of natural shape as dictated by laws of optics? If you could build a good transistor model out of circular shapes and it will work, there will be much less troubles in lithography. As I see, for example, SRAM cell layout is quite a deviation from rectangles... (I am afraid I am stepping into another chapter of ephud's NDA :-) :-)
