I don't know much about what Bolten did or didn't do during the time junior snuck him into the UN job. I do know this though. He was very careful to put up a good front. He went out of his way not to do anything to compromise the confirmation which he and junior still thought was in his future. If congress had approved him he would have undoubtedly done things which would have been much more controversial. A majority of the people who know more about these sorts of things didn't think he was qualified for the job. Junior thought he was and that should tell you something if you go by his past appointees.

In an alternate universe (like the U.N.), a man rooted in reality like John Bolton really stands out. It is a shame he didn't get eight years in Turtle Bay. The world would have been a better place for it.
