That is one opinion. It is the assumption you make about "character" and it's relation to "charity"- both words meaning various things to various people.

People can use almost any word as a mask for almost anything- whether they know they are doing it or not. IMO, of course.

I do not accept your idea about the relationship between charity and character, but mostly because I find the words charity and character unacceptably vague and subjective. But since we're dealing here with opinions, rather than hard numbers (as we actually have about "religious" people giving money to causes they think of as "charity") I don't see the point in going any further. I accept that you believe what you believe about charity and I don't agree with you. End of story.
