One of the things that occurred to me as I watched the Baker-Hamilton act on TV today is the various ways our presidential election process eliminates some of the best candidates.

If you take the argument that the country requires, much of the time, classic centrists in the WH, while the rest of us bang away at one another, you can see, just in that group, some very talented folk--Hamilton, Baker, Pineta, Jordan, and Gates (now gone--who have presidential level talent.

But our system makes it impossible for them to gain the position.
