You are right about the good commissioned salespeople make repeating clients out of their customers. I sold big ticket commercial printing. Catalogs, direct mail pieces, brochures and that sort of thing. No one buys that stuff if they don't actually need it, no matter how good the sales person may be. A fast talking used car salesman would fail in that area, fast. My customers came back to me for years because I never lied to them, I made sure my company did what I promised the client and serviced them in ways my competition was jealous of. Having the lowest price was rarely a reason for the sale. Competitive pricing, yes. Not being the low bidder rarely lost a job for me.
