I have to kick my wife out of the kitchen. If not the second I set something down she has it in the dish water even though I may need it again in 10 seconds.

That's the way I am in the kitchen. I clean up as I go. I'm a kitchen "neat nut" and 10 minutes after a meal, other than cooking odors, no one could tell I was ever in the kitchen. I'm that way about the whole house. It usually can use a good dusting, but everything is exactly where it should be... all the time.
