You are the first person other than Hawkmoon that I feel has a complete understanding of what is going on there and more importantly here.....

Problem is what can we do....?????

It's frustrating as a mere bystander....

I need some real power and influence.... will you appoint me Secretary of Defense if you become President...?

I promise not to do anything rational...

regards

Bush keeps reiterating the wrong points about our policy in Iraq, like we are going to win the war. How silly, we already won the war years ago when we kicked out Saddam. Now, we are only trying to support the peacekeeping or security phase of the post war conflict. If the high number of attacks bothers people, we should be blaming the killers not the US politicians.

So VERY TRUE!! Bush should not let himself be pinned into such a position of winning or losing a war that was won when Saddam was overthrow and a new government elected.

This should be about DEFENDING democratic government in that country from assailants, foreign and domestic. It should be about standing firm behind the Iraqi people, both Sunni and Shi'a, that want to find a path of reconciliation and political/economic compromise.

Change the message Bush.. Don't let the media dictate what the terms of "victory" are. This is a change of mission from overthrow of a brutal regime to defense of a fledgling democracy. And only the Iraqi people can "win or lose" that struggle to have a freely elected democratic government.
