Syria has made their country less receptive to "terrorists" and wants to move to somewhat better relations with the US.

They also want Golan and to control Lebanon, too. Not sure they get everything.

Syria does not appear to have the grand ambitions of Iran.

They have the Turks on one side and Israel to the south.
