Richardson comes out against Mexico security fence. Compares it to Berlin wall. That sounds pretty dicey for a border governor. Wonder who got to him?

that is consistent with everything he has ever said, why do you think someone "got to him"?

Richardson would be a great president.

Not too dicey considering New Mexico is heavily Hispanic (one of the most Hispanic states), with many residents formerly from Mexico. Richardson already does not have the hard right anti-immigrant vote in New Mexico because of other liberal positions he takes. Why should he piss off his base of Hispanics by supporting the closing off the border by building a wall? I think it is a purely political move. Look at neighboring Arizona, where the demographics are different (more European based), Governor Napolitano has been much more supportive of border security. Politics? You bet!

Personnally, I'd like to see the border brought under control with fences and personnel just to do things in an orderly manner. Nobody wins with anarchy and chaos. I would support a guest worker program if it was fairly implemented.
