Far rightwing Cubans will vote GOP no matter what. But they are an oddball minority now. The new generation of Hispanics, including Cubans, are much more liberal about such things, and detest the demonization of Hispanic immigrants by the rightwing.

Castro has not been affected at all by Bush's policies, whatever they are. So the GOP hasn't helped the Cubans one bit. Mel Martinez is the type who would back the big Yankee imperialist companies, CIA coup and Iran-Contra death sqauds, not the people of Latin America. Plus, Castro will be dead by 2008, so who cares? He has terminal cancer now.

The GOP is in serious trouble with Hispanic voters now. A few token rightwing Cuban types aren't going to turn that around. Most of Florida's Hispanics will vote for the Democrat in 2008, especially if Richardson is on the ticket.
