I agree - repairing the breach is a pipe dream.

However, packing up and leave is tantamount to having all those people in the green zone and a lot of others slaughtered. That is not what we are all about.

ISG recommendations are lot closer to packing up and leave than it is to staying the course. What they are missing is a date certain.

We can multi task. We can specify a date certain, give diplomacy a try, and pack up and leave. Packing up and leave means that we make an effort to give the Iraqi's we leave behind with sufficient resources to maintain some semblance of order should they choose to do so.
