jla said that Gates and Baker are not telling the truth when they say that we are not winning in Iraq. That they are fools that suffer from their opinions being wrong.

Seems to me that they are telling the truth. We are not winning. Kissenger said military victory is not possible. He's right because guerilla tactics cannot be effectively put down by an occupying military force, unless you're willing to go behind every door. That of course would take many many more troops. At the same time you would have needed to secure SH's ammo dumps and the borders which was not done.

The course we are pursuing in Iraq is one that sacrifices soldiers everyday and the "outcome is uncertain" as jla put it. I would say that if we stay the course...the outcome is very certain. That we will lose another 1,000 boys and spend billions of dollars more and the situation on the ground will remain unchanged.

Therefore redeployment is essential.
