That's right, as opposed to "jybe". Jibe is sometimes spelled "jybe" and it is a maneuver that sailboats make when sailing downwind where the mainsail goes from port to starboard (or vv). If not controlled it can be a violent event and has been known to knock people overboard (not me).

Jibe was the word to use here, and also means "agrees with".

Jive is generally a A-A dance term.

Smooth
