You've mentioned that before. It is locked down a lot tighter here. In fact, much of the state expenditures are done that way. It is one of several reasons we only let them meet once every two years. Their only recourse in a "budget emergency" is to cut spending somehow or raise taxes.

And we don't have a direct initiative process.

But even so, I'd rather see the money go to bridges to nowhere or rain forest museums in Podunk Ill. than into ME pockets.

But that is just me.
