It's incomprehensible, Sully. Our justice system is geared towards making money for defense attorneys at the expense of justice, it sometimes seems. A long drop on a short rope within months of that guy's conviction would have served justice, but now it even seems cruel to do it after 25 years. I would almost rather do away with the death penalty just to get out of the mandatory appeals. Anyway, we need the death penalty for the Jeffrey Dahmers of the world, so that won't work either. Why leftists go for those criminals and murders is beyond understanding. I don't see what there is in it for them, beyond having something to bitch about the right wing or the status quo.
