Exactly right. That is the conventional way.

Our UW leaders are more risk takers...but the risk is evaluated and managed very carefully and is nearly always worth the gain.
Here is an example. 50 A teams from our 5th Special Forces Group took down Afghanistan. Yet many conventional generals are incensed that SF was given the opportunity.
One 4 star mentioned that to Rummie in a meeting. R told the general, "600 Green Berets gave me a country. What have you done for me lately?"

Can't imagine a conventional minded US military leader having what it takes to get on a horse to attack a tank formation.

Our SF has been doing this stuff for a long time.
The military channel will be showing the documentary "Tank Battle Vietnam" again this month.

It is another example of a small highly outnumbered force, led by USSF, winning an unwinnable battle.
