Particularly strange that you would cite Israel as an example of success, given the recent debacle in Lebanon. The Israeli leadership bragged that they would clean Hezbullah out of Lebanon, but weeks later Hezbullah was still firing waves of rockets into Israel.

The Israelis have commissioned a study group to determine why they were not successful. They do not fear unconventional thinkers and have put at least one former career USSF officer on the panel.

<So you think there is someone out there with a secret plan to win the war in one week? >

Snowshoe there is no secret plan. Your words not mine. My point is there ARE competent generals that, given the chance, have the knowledge and wherewithal to conduct this war in a way where we will achieve our goals. It will not occur in 1 week as the unrealistic Wrangels/Pelosis and Bidens wish.

<Particularly strange that you would cite Israel as an example of success, given the recent debacle in Lebanon.>

My point, which you seem to have missed, was that if the Israelis were left to finish what the jihadists started in 73 we would have a different ME now. Once again I will lay it out for you using Lebanon. What was the reality with that confrontation that Hezbo/Iran started ? Was Israel allowed to finish militarily or were they forced to cease and desist by the UN and the US ? Hezbo got what they wanted... a state to run and sponsor terrorism just like the Taliban.

If the political gloves are taken off what do you think will be the outcome in Iraq and Lebanon ?

Olmert was a classic case of talking loudly and carrying a small stick. His Chief of Staff was an Air Force man, and told him the IAF could do the job alone. Olmert believed him.

It was foolishness all around. Everybody knew that Hizbullah was dug into Aouthern Lebanon, even if they missed some of the bunkers. You can't take bunkers with bombs alone. Yet Olmert didn't send in ground forces until the 2nd or 3rd week. By then it was too little too late.

To give credit on the other side of the coin, the IAF did an excellent job of taking out nearly all of the larger missiles before they could fire. Most of what got fired were the small Katyushas, which were fired from launchers in civilian areas, often built into civilian houses. The IAF had a harder time finding those before they were fired.
