kpf, re centrino, technically the components of centrino are not bundled (they are available separately at about the same price). Only the label is dependent on using all Intel components, and Intel has proven fairly flexible about allowing alternatives (especially discrete graphics) to qualify. So I don't view centrino as a pricing model so much as a marketing model. Intel did a great job of establishing the Centrino brand, and leveraging that to generate sales of some pretty inferior components (the wireless chip that was the main benefit of Centrino according to the ads was pretty much crap).
