does that mean you believe the ISG recipe will work?

I don't know jack about current events. My brother's metastatic renal carcinoma caused a break in his spine at T-11 in October, rendering him a paraplegic. He died late November, and I've been acting as executor to his will.

Finally got back home to my own life on Friday night.

The world has gone on without me.

But human nature never changes.

Gold is pretty, but guns are better, and land is forever Well, maybe not in China, but in the US this is so. So maybe it's also true to say that, human nature never changes, but different approaches work in different cultures.

Western cultures are more-or-less sane, more-or-less rational.

The Middle East is pretty much insane.

China baffles me. Chinese people are extremely intelligent, old culture, very advanced, but your governments are grotesque.

Maybe it's just different strokes for different folks. On this side of the Pacific Ocean, we prize individualism above all else, the rights of the individual against the state. Thus, we respect the rights of the individual to go to court to preserve private property rights, and the rights of the individual to be armed to the teeth in order to preserve private property rights. This is reflexive, automatic, bred into our bones. Failure to preserve these rights is abberrant, deplored by all.

There are no group rights here, only reciprocal obligations to respect the rights of others.

American culture has never yet broken down so badly that gold was anything other than a pretty metal.

Telling me that gold will save me makes no more sense than telling me that pretty earrings will save me, or a nice necklace.

If the day ever comes that I need a necklace to save me, I'd rather depend on an AR15 or an M16. As your old buddy, Chairman Mao, was wont to say, power comes from the barrel of a gun.
