People would have to give up their houses and their cars to live in a Brave New World of condos, walking, and taking buses and trains everywhere.

It's possible, but people just aren't going to go that way voluntarily. Something drastic has to happen first ... like gas soaring to $10/gallon.


People are doing it here voluntarily and in other cities. When it comes to urbanity, S. Cal is not on the cutting edge.
