Have no problem believing you. That wasn't my point. Back in the 60s I spent quite some time working those electromechanical computing machines doing extra as a student. That was a few years before they all went MOS integration, first desktop then handheld. That was when the US exported this unique technology to the Japanese thus putting them into the semiconductor business for real. Those stupid Norte Americanos.
