I think I'll stop here and humbly ask that you study more about "natural monopolies" and the real definition of social cost.

I'll just leave you with this: The social cost of the Microsoft monopoly is obvious. Viruses, security holes, a stranglehold on software standards that retards progress, etc. That easily dwarfs the typical R&D costs of an operating system or a suite of office applications. Just because Microsoft spends billions on it doesn't mean it has to be true.
