Supply & demand are certainly factors. I have no clue on what "positional goods" means in this context though.
I also do not know what you're driving at on how "international trade related imbalances" creates inflation.
Lastly, and I'm simply unclear on your view - do you generally define inflation by the one noted at Wikipedia (a rise in the general level of prices, as measured against some baseline of purchasing power)? Just for the record, my general definition is "more money than goods", as reflected in my glossary. I also have no issues with the Wikipedia one for *general* discussion.

As far as the ongoing issues between you and Mish, I prefer to stay out of it, other than to say that my read on what he's looking at and how he defines inflation and deflation is different than what you see.

By the way, thanks (truly, no smart ass implications intended) for being civil, rather than making assumptions about my views like one other person here on SI.
