Source on team says backup QB getting additional time with starters MSNBC staff and news service reports Updated: 7:23 p.m. CT Dec 9, 2006 Are the Chicago Bears on the verge of switching quarterbacks? With Rex Grossman struggling, the Bears are apparently preparing a possible move to Brian Griese. The backup quarterback is receiving half of the reps in practice this week, an unnamed player told the Chicago Sun-Times on Saturday. Griese has sidestepped the brewing quarterback controversey surrounding the 10-2 Bears. ''None of this really matters to me,'' he told the newspaper. ''I have one job, and that's to go out and prepare just like I have the entire season, and that's what I'm going to do this week.'' Grossman has struggled mightily after looking like a star at the beginning of the season. Even he is perplexed at his downward slide. "I just am so confused why I do some of the things I do," Grossman told the Sun-Times. "It just doesn't make any sense to me. It's not a matter of confidence.
